CRI's 2nd annual Answer to Cancer will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2017. This year's event will feature the option to cycle 25, 50, or 100 miles or participate in a 5K Family Fun Run/Walk. The event will start in the village of Highland Falls, NY, with a military procession through the United States Military Academy at West Point. Whether you ride, run, walk, volunteer, or donate, 100% of the dollars raised by participants will go toward lifesaving cancer immunotherapy research.
Cycling Routes: Cyclists will ride through the Lower Hudson Valley, home to some of the most breathtaking scenery—and best cycling—in the Northeast. All routes have been designed to enhance the riders' enjoyment. We have chosen roads that suit cyclists. While routes may go through some small communities in the Hudson Valley, the majority of the riding takes place on country roads with limited traffic. However, rules of the road do apply.
5K Route: Runners and walkers will enjoy a closed course that loops in and out of the historical Military Academy at West Point.
Rest Stops: Rest stops are placed throughout all courses and will provide food and beverage to keep every participant fueled and ready.
SAG Vehicles: A complement of Support and Gear (SAG) vehicles will roam the routes to attend to your needs—mechanical, flats, medical, nutrition.
Medical/EMS: A full crew of medical professionals will be on hand to support all riders, runners, walkers, staff, volunteers, and guests. EMT's will be placed at each rest stop and the start/finish line. All medical facilities along the routes will be notified of the event, especially the ER in case of medical emergency.
Mechanics: Bike mechanics will available throughout the course.
Police: Law enforcement has been hired to work key intersections along the routes to ensure participant safety.
